Temple Beth Israel has made a commitment to helping refugees in our community. In conjunction with the TBI Board of Trustees passing a motion to join the HIAS Welcome Campaign (a national refugee advocacy organization), the TBI Board and Social Action Committee are taking steps to assist families locally, as well as creating an infrastructure to help in a more general way.
We are currently helping a local family of six from Syria, as well as other refugees in the community, whose needs include financial donations for food, rent, dental work, and help with social services.
